Education

B.S. in Communication from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio with a
major emphasis in Radio and Television (1971)

M.A. in Appalachian Studies from Appalachian State University,
Boone, North Carolina, with a major emphasis in regional and
cultural music & broadcasting (1993)

Completed course work in Japanese Language at University of
Hawaii, Honolulu, Hawaii (1983-1984) and Karuizawa Language
School, Karuizawa, Nagano-Ken, Japan (1982-1983)
