Alumni & Friends

Alumni speaking with studentsAs a department dedicated to students, it's not too surprising that we're proud of our alumni. Students from this department have gone on to successful careers all over the country, empowered by the one quality that has impressed employers over and over again: a positive, teachable, committed attitude.

We're convinced that our current students can learn a lot from our alumni, as well as from our other friends out there in the "real world." We're also convinced that we as a department have a lot to learn from you. That's why we encourage our alumni and friends to come visit us, guest lecture, teach a class or two, give us advice about our curriculum, or get involved with our mission in any way possible (including financial gifts). One major undertaking where you could have a big impact is with the Beasley Broadcasting Complex in the Old Depot building. You'll find more information about all of these activities by following the links to the left.

We also encourage you to visit the ASU Alumni Association site. One thing you should definitely do while you're there is log in to the ASU Alumni Online Community, where you can update your contact information so we can stay in touch with you.

Giving

The Department of Communication is a technology-intense department. Our equipment needs are numerous, given our large number of students, as well as expensive (quality production equipment does not come cheaply). In addition, we have several scholarships which support students who plan to pursue careers in the field of communication. We need your support to keep providing our students with the education they need to be successful professionals.

Current specific needs with approximate costs include:

To give to the department, you can use ASU's online Giving Opportunities page -- be sure to choose Communication under the College of Fine & Applied Arts for the Area of Giving.

For more details about giving please contact the Director of Development, Greg Langdon, at 828 262-6689.
